It’s that time of year again, The 2017 Rolex Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.
It’s that time of year again…..
The end of March only means one thing, the start of the new F1 season, how will the cars perform, how fast are they this year, will Mercedes still dominate and how have the teams come to term with the new regulations?
So many questions and by Sunday evening (26th March), all or most of the questions will be answered.
For me, it’s blow the cobwebs off, update all systems on my laptop, clean and prep the camera gear and hope I don’t miss too many shots by being rusty from not being out there on a regular basis.
Now, this was going to be a blog about my weekend at the Grand Prix with some of my images.
What I came to realise is, after a long layoff from the camera, do you lose that edge, the ability to think quick on your feet, to get that one image and to foresee the next, near to perfect shot, let’s face it, we never get “the perfect” shot anyway do we…
I soon realised that, I was very rusty, missing people, missing shots, slow to react and not thinking quick enough on my feet. I was finding it very annoying especially at the end of each day thinking more of the images I missed, rather than the images I did get, sometimes I think, I put too much pressure on myself but if you didn’t, you can become very complacent.
Overall it was a good weekend, especially catching up with old friends and meeting new ones, hopefully I will be back up to speed for Singapore. I still look at my images and still think I could have done better, a lot better but on the plus side I did get a 3rd and 4th place in the Nikon Professional Services printed Image of the weekend competition, and also I did manage to get a full front page spread in, The Guardian, sport’s section.
So not too shabby then……
Below; My favourite of the weekend, this one also got me 2nd place in the NPS, printed image of the weekend.
