Why are they no flies in Singapore ?
That is the question I first asked myself, not seen one, which coming from Australia is a welcome relief.
Well, anyway here I am again, back on the F1 circus, always nervous going to a new track but then again I always get nervous at the beginning of any new job, which I like to think is a good thing. Always striving to better yourself and always trying to deliver the best you can.
I am, as always looking forward to catching up with old friends and making new ones.
Now some people may think, wow, that is easy, but you have to plan, research and also put a lot of leg work into this especially when you are trying to cover as much as possible with a very small time frame, also, all this, while being on your own, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
So here we are, Thursday evening, that’s the first day over and done with, pretty uneventful, finding my way around, track walk and just planning for the days ahead.
Tomorrow is Friday, apart from FP1 and FP2 their will be big news regarding the whole Mclaren/Honda relationship, with Mclaren opting to go with Renault for the 2018 season, Sainz going to Renault and Torro Rosso getting the Honda engines. Behind close doors their have been a lot of other details, way too many to get into, but there are huge amounts of money being banded around. With all of this going on will Fernando Alonso finally be in a competitive car next year ? Will his prayers be answered.
Later on tomorrow we shall find out whether Ferrari, namely Sebastian Vettel will be dominant here or have Mercedes done their research and caught up a bit on this type of circuit.
Oh yes, nearly forgot, why have I seen no flies in Singapore ? Courtesy of Google, Some theories are that the Singapore government make sure all areas are clean as due to the hot climate this can lead to outbreaks of troublesome invertebrates such as Cockroaches. So, money is spent to spray insecticides that may kill the larvae of flies. They do this to ensure that there is no outbreak of diseases. Also they have very little litter on the streets.
